Northern Lights do not appear like a light switch. You take your chances when you book a tour. The city hotels do post if the weather conditions are ripe for the Lights to appear but there is no guarantee. Call up the tour operator and they be happy to tell you what to expect and when is the best time to view the Lights. Good Luck.
