Great project, wonderful environment, very knowledgeable staff. Tours every hour. Sick and abused bears are treated with extreme care and respect. Had the occasion to see three during our visit.Full review by 556mimisc

Thank you Marion. The Sanctuary will be open during your visit. It's closed only during hibernation period (January-March). Kindly note though that the Sanctuary is closed on Wednesdays. All the other days it's open from 10 am when the first tour begins There's a tour every hour and a last one at 16.30. They last about 30 mins. Hope you'll enjoy your visit :)
Are you only shut from Jan to mid March? Are any of your tours in English? I have some accommodation on hold for the end of March and we hope to visit on Thursday 30th March.

That sounds ok. We'are always open at this time of the year. The tours are done in english when there are foreign visitors :)
Does anyone know if it is easy to get a taxi from Amyntaio to Nymfeo (or is it too small a village to have a taxi-if so we will come via Florina). Thanks for your help. Jan.

I imagine that there would be a taxi at Amyntaio.but it would have to wait for you there for some considerable time as there are definitely none at Nymphaio. So maybe not practical.
Thanks very much for the information. Could you also let me know how late we could visit in 2016 before the bears go into hibernation. I'm not sure we can wait till 2017 now that we have decided to visit. We plan to fly into Thessaloniki and take the train to Amyntaio then a taxi to Nymfeo to stay for a couple of nights.
