While fans were sad to hear the news in December 2024 that all of the Party City stores were officially closing as the company goes out of business, there might just be a new life for the shops—or at least the locations.

Party City is closing all of its stores in the US, but the emptied-out buildings they leave behind won't be shuttered for long. In December, the company announced that it was going out of business "immediately" and closed all of its locations.

What used to be your local Party City store may soon be selling books, recliner chairs, cowboy boots or discount merchandise.

Discount chain Dollar Tree, which already picked up some closed 99 Cents Only Stores, and value retailer Five Below are leading the bids for hundreds of Party City stores closed amid bankruptcy. But the Solano County store is still seeking a buyer.

The retailer successfully bid on 148 of the bankrupt company’s leases, alongside Five Below, Barnes & Noble and others.
