Social media detectives uncovered a 12-year-old tweet from President Donald Trump about the “Washington Redskins” team name, and let’s just say it aged like milk. On Sunday, news broke that President Donald Trump had threatened to hold up the Washington Commanders’ push for a new stadium if they didn’t go back to the “Redskins” team

Trump also said Sunday that he wants Cleveland's baseball team to revert to its former name, the Indians, saying there was a “big clamoring for this" as well. The Washington Commanders and Cleveland Guardians have had their current names since the 2022 seasons and both have said they have no plans to change them back.

President Trump on Sunday publicly demanded that the Washington Commanders change the team name back to the Redskins— labeling them derisively the “Washington Whatever’s.”

The Washington Commanders are one of the most storied franchises in the NFL. Trump wrote that there is a "big clamoring" for the team to be renamed the "Washington Redskins Football Team." Trump has his own history with the NFL after showing interest in buying a team during the 1980s,

"Let me be clear, we're on the 1-yard line and it's time to get over the line," Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser said

Super Bowl champion Jason Buck said in a recent interview he would implore President Donald Trump to help get the Redskins nickname back in the NFL.
