The second baseman said the Yankees were not particularly aggressive during his free agency before he signed a one-year, $15 million contract with the Detroit Tigers late last week. “I didn’t really have any offer from them,” Torres said during an introductory Zoom call.

So the fact the Yankees never extended an offer to Torres in free agency before he agreed to a one-year contract worth $15 million with the Tigers in recent days didn’t come as a surprise to the 28-year-old infielder.
