Most chips you’ll see in laptops will max out with the Ryzen AI 7 450, an 8-core CPU with a 5.1GHz clock speed and 24MB cache with only a 50 TOPS NPU. Overall, it’s a subdued update to one of AMD’s most prevalent CPUs.

AMD unveiled new Ryzen AI laptop, gaming, and workstation processors at CES 2026, setting the stage for the year to come.
“The reason we introduced the 392 and 388 chips is because those are the right products for gamers we’re bringing in,” AMD client chip boss Rahul Tikoo tells us in a press briefing. “Those two products were brought in because we had specific customer requests around gaming SKUs that we wanted to bring to market.”
Ryzen 7 9850X3D processor kicks up the clocks and packs the same extra-fast cache in an effort to outpace the well-regarded Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
