Former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is clearly showing a desire to return to coaching. In late December it was announced Carroll was interested in the Bears' top job, and he even recently completed an interview with Chicago.

The Bears interviewed former Seahawks coach Pete Carroll for their head coaching job. The 73-year-old Carroll is looking to return to the NFL sidelines.

The Chicago Bears are casting a wide net in their search for a new head coach. And according to ESPN, that includes a scheduled Thursday interview with 73-year-old Pete Carroll, the Super Bowl-winning ex-coach of the Seattle Seahawks.

Seahawks hopefuls may have been wishing for draft-pick compensation in exchange for Carroll, sort of how Sean Payton was traded from New Orleans to Denver two offseasons ago. That won’t happen. Carroll is free to coach elsewhere and the Seahawks wouldn’t benefit from him filling a head coaching vacancy.

Chicago requested to interview both Detroit Lions' coordinators, Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn. The Bears also put in a request to interview Dallas Cowboys' head coach Mike McCarthy, which Dallas reportedly shut down according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

It wasn't that long ago that Pete Carroll surprisingly stepped away from the Seattle Seahawks' sideline. In 14 seasons with the franchise, the 73-year-old head coach revived the organization with a 137-89-1 record and 10 playoff appearances — including back-to-back NFC Championships and Super Bowl
