We have seen a couple weak storms along the Mississippi border this afternoon but they will be moving out of West Tennessee in the next hour or two. All of our focus now will turn to Friday after sunset into early Saturday morning for the first severe weather event from this system.

Saturday’s setup is shaping up to be a particularly dangerous situation. Increased instability (how quickly the air rises) and wind shear (how the air changes in wind direction and speed with height) will lead to the risk of severe storms capable of producing tornadoes.
