Had Kansas played to its preseason No. 1 ranking, the Jayhawks would be entering Selection Sunday as a lock for a top seed in the NCAA Tournament Midwest Regional with a first-round (and possible second-round) game to be contested in a convenient locale — Wichita.

Kansas basketball had a chance to advance to the semifinals of the Big 12 tournament. To get there, though, the Jayhawks had to beat Arizona.

Still, the Wildcats were able to take the Jayhawks’ punch and respond, forcing Kansas into several turnovers late in the second half. After a Hunter Dickinson layup cut the Arizona lead to 70-69 with 5:43 remaining, the Wildcats closed the game on a 18-8 run to win by double-figures.
