Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis approved a package of sweeping immigration bills on Thursday, helping settle a bitter showdown with state Republican legislative leaders.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed a sweeping package of immigration laws. It's aimed at carrying out President Donald Trump’s mass deportation agenda.

During Thursday's bill signing, DeSantis did mention his squabble with Florida's legislative leaders, comparing it to turbulence on a plane. "The minute you land safely you just kind of forget about it and you move on with your day, and this plane landed safely and securely and soundly," he said.
