Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed into law what he calls the toughest anti-illegal immigration bill in the country. He spent weeks negotiating with state legislators, who at times debated passionately on the floors of the house and senate.

During Thursday's bill signing, DeSantis did mention his squabble with Florida's legislative leaders, comparing it to turbulence on a plane. "The minute you land safely you just kind of forget about it and you move on with your day, and this plane landed safely and securely and soundly," he said.
