The race for Maine’s Senate seat continues. Incumbent independent Senator Angus King is leading with over 52 percent of the vote. Senator King says he’s ready for a third term. However, he held off declaring victory. As the votes have come in, he remains in the lead.

Independent U.S. Sen. Angus King is seeking another term, but three challengers are trying to end his three-decade political run.

Independent Sen. Angus King turned back challenges by a former Republican state party chair and a Democratic environmental activist in Maine to win a third term with a majority of the vote in the four-way race.

Independent Angus King has officially been declared the winner of Maine’s Senate race. The Associated Press officially called the race on Thursday around 10:15 a.m. King already declared his victory on Wednesday afternoon.
