The Environmental Protection Agency just finalized one of the Biden administration’s only outstanding climate rules, aimed at cracking down on leaks of methane — a potent planet-warming gas with an outsized impact on the climate.

The finalized rule comes as Trump has vowed to walk back a number of Biden climate regulations targeting the oil and gas industry.

What really caused shock — and anger — was that the president’s flagship climate law appeared out of the blue and seemed unfriendly to America’s allies. Most notably, the subsidies it offers for green energy exclude some of America’s “friends” such as the EU and South Korea.
