“The Final Reckoning” was originally conceived as the Part Two to the previous “Mission: Impossible” outing, “Dead Reckoning.” The first trailer, which was released last November, revealed the “Final Reckoning” title — and that Angela Bassett would return as CIA Director Erika Sloane, after she first appeared in “Mission: Impossible – Fallout.”

The Mission: Impossible star recently chatted with Empire about the opening sequence of the John Woo-directed Mission: Impossible 2, which saw the actor climbing a rock face in Moab, UT. What wasn’t known until now was that Cruise completed the shot while battling a serious injury.
