People removed doors, windows, bricks, iron rods, and pipes from the wreckage. Some of them cut iron rods from the debris using a hacksaw, while others used hammers to break concrete and collect rods.

India on Thursday condemned the vandalism of Bangladesh’s founding leader, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s residence in Dhaka, calling the act “regrettable.” In response to media queries regarding the vandalism if Rahman’s residence,

"All those who value the freedom struggle that nurtured Bangla identity and pride are aware of the importance of this residence for the national consciousness of Bangladesh," he said.
