With snow expected Tuesday into Wednesday, some local school districts have announced schedule changes. Here's what districts had announced as of Thursday morning. The StarNews will provide updates as they become available.

Prior to the recent flurries, the National Weather Service last recorded snowfall in Wilmington on Jan. 29, 2022 — reporting a total half inch, according to the Wilmington N.C. Snowfall Database. Also, on Jan. 10, a system brought sleet to the area before turning into rain.

Wilmington and its surrounding area are under a Winter Storm Warning issued by the National Weather Service beginning Tuesday night at 9 and lasting until 8 a.m. Wednesday. Snow is expected, according to the NWS, with total accumulations up to five inches near the coast with higher amounts possible in some areas.

Snow and strong winds make their presence felt as the area is under a continued winter storm warning all through the evening.
