Goaltender Logan Thompson has signed a six-year contract with the Washington Capitals after 27 games with the team.

The New Jersey Devils are clinging to third in the Metropolitan Division, and they're about to be without star goalie Jacob Markström.

Tom McVie, a Boston Bruins ambassador who coached the New Jersey Devils, Washington Capitals and Winnipeg Jets, died at the age of 89.

The New Jersey Devils had a quick one-game travel break in between some home games. They visited the Toronto Maple Leafs on Jan. 16. Despite their best efforts, it was the Maple Leafs who were able to take home the victory 4-3 in overtime.

Devils president of hockey operations and general manager Tom Fitzgerald sat down with The Athletic on Wednesday after his team arrived in Toronto ahead of a game with the Maple Leafs, and there was no hesitation when he was asked what’s led to his team’s comeback season.
