Ballot Measure 2, the effort to repeal Alaska’s ranked choice voting and open primaries, was winning slightly as election results continued to come in early Wednesday, with about 97% of Alaska precincts counted.

With more than 100,000 ballots counted, 50.5% of votes were in favor of a ballot measure to repeal Alaska’s voting system.

This measure would eliminate the top-four primary system and ranked-choice voting in general elections.

Ballot Measure 2 was behind by 1% in early election night results, despite the campaign being outspent 100-to-1.
