Another former Republican lawmaker has been picked to lead one of Florida’s public universities. The board of trustees of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton on Monday picked Adam Hasner to be the school’s next president.

Hasner is the latest politician selected for a high-paying university post over academic leaders as Gov. Ron DeSantis works to expand his influence on education in the state.

Board Chair Rogelio Tovar said Gov. Ron DeSantis' office contacted him and asked him to consider Nuñez as the next president.

Florida Atlantic University hired a former GOP lawmaker as president, and Florida International University tapped the lieutenant governor at the urging of Governor Ron DeSantis.
