The geology of South Table and North Table is fascinating. The rocky top of both mesas was deposited by a volcano that erupted near the current site of Ralston Reservoir 64 million years ago.
Much of North Table is rimmed with beautiful rocky cliffs. And it’s a big mountain, so once you get up one of the three primary ascent routes, visitors do tend to spread out.
