The deal originally had the Celtics receiving a Knicks 2030 second-round pick and the Blazers’ 2031 second-round pick along with Anfernee Simons in exchange for Jrue Holiday, a league source tells MassLive. However, those picks were not included in the official announcement of the deal on Monday.
Former Portland Trail Blazers guard Anfernee Simons posted a farewell message to Rip City on his Instagram page on Monday. Simons, traded to the Boston Celtics for guard Jrue Holiday after seven seasons with the Blazers stated the following:
Boston lost six-time All-Star power forward Jayson Tatum to an Achilles tendon tear during the club's eventual six-game second round playoff series loss to the New York Knicks. Given the extreme nature of the injury, the Celtics are likely to be without Tatum for most or all of the 2025-26 season.
