DELRAY BEACH — City officials in Delray Beach issued a precautionary boil water notice this week because of a water main break. The notice, issued by the Delray Beach Utilities Department at about 6 p.m. Tuesday, said properties in the affected area would experience an interruption in service while repairs were being made.

The advisory was issued following the repair of a water main break on Parchmount Avenue. The work caused brief drops in pressure, which can allow bacteria to enter the system. The boil water advisory is precautionary; no bacteria had been found in the system as of Wednesday.
