Former Holy Cross QB Matthew Sluka announced he will reunite with former Crusaders coach Bob Chesney at James Madison University.

After leaving UNLV due to a NIL payment dispute, Sluka has chosen to reunite with Bob Chesney, his former coach in Worcester.

Quarterback Matthew Sluka, who created a national conversation about the ramifications of name, image and likeness after departing UNLV, has transferred to James Madison. His new school posted a graphic of Sluka draped in a royal purple robe with a crown atop his head to celebrate his transfer to the Dukes.

Sluka, who transferred to UNLV from Holy Cross, announced after UNLV’s 3-0 start in 2024 that he would utilize a redshirt year and sit out the remainder of the season after “representations” made to him “were not upheld.
