India has announced an import duty cut on US-made bourbon whiskey, slashing the taxes from 150% to 50% in a run up to PM Narendra Modi’s talks with US President Donald Trump. Here is how much bourbon whiskey price will be after the duty cut.

America's popular bourbon whiskey, known for its hint of sweetness, has got a sweet deal in India. Customs duty on such whiskey makers has been slashed by as much as 66.6 per cent, effectively making it one-third the cost of what it is currently.

India on Friday slashed tariffs on bourbon whiskey from 150 per cent to 100 per cent, a move that came after US President Donald Trump criticised the "very unfair" levies in the South Asian markets. The 50 per cent cut on customs duty was notified on February 13,

Additionally, a 50% agricultural cess under the Agricultural Infrastructure and Development Cess (AIDC) remains applicable, effectively doubling the overall taxation on these imports.

India has slashed tariffs on bourbon whisky to 100% from 150%, a move that will benefit imports of brands like Suntory's Jim Beam, after U.S. President Donald Trump's criticised "unfair" levies in the South Asian market.

The basic customs duty on bourbon whisky will be 50%, while an agricultural cess of 50% has also been imposed. Bourbon whisky accounts for as much as one-fourth or 25 per cent of all such liquor imports in India.
