Two mosquito test samples taken from Hyde Park and West Roxbury have tested positive for West Nile Virus, the Boston Public Health Commission announced Friday. There currently aren’t any confirmed human cases, and the commission told Boston residents the risk of transmission is low. But it encouraged protective steps be taken.

With mosquito season peaking across the Texas Panhandle, health experts are urging the public to take precautions as the risk of West Nile virus increases. The virus was recently confirmed in Randall County after the virus was found in donated blood during screening.

Only about 20% of patients infected with the virus develop symptoms, according to Tarrant County Public Health. Serious cases remain rare.
